83 Batch get-together Report

Report of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations get-together of 1983 batch

A gala get-together of 1983 batch of Walchandites was organized on 20th December 2008 in Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli. It was a jam packed one-day programme.

The programme began with registration of participants. In all 94 participants registered for the get-to function to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of their passing out from WCE. Participants came from Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Satara, Kolhapur, Kudal, Sangli-Miraj and even from far off places like Coimbatore, Hyderabad. Many of them had come with their family. About 15 teachers also participated in this function.

At the start, floral tributes were offered to Late Shri. Dhondumama Sathe. All the participants then assembled in Tilak Hall. The proceedings began by paying homage to departed teachers- Late Prof. D.P. Sakhadeo, Late Prof. M.K. Shirhatti, Late Prof. Dr. B.P. Parikh, Late Prof. A.A. Khandekar, Late Prof. M.B. Sajanikar, Late Prof. V.R. Bahulekar, Late Prof. S.D. Patil, Late Prof. M.P. Deval, Late Prof. R.K. Ainapure, Late Prof. N.R. Phadnis, Late Prof. S.G. Ranade, Late Prof. V.M. Kadam and Late Prof. C.V. Kunte. Homage was also paid to our departed friends Late Mr. M.S. Awati, Late Mr. R.A. Sakhwalkar, Late Mr.G.B. Joshi, Late Mr.Sanjay Bhosale.

This was followed by felicitation of all the teachers who were present for the function by offering a memento and a bouquet.

Many of the participants then introduced themselves and briefed the gathering about their achievements after passing out as Walchandites.

All of them then enjoyed a buffet lunch in the Vartak Hall.

After the lunch break the alumnus gathering visited the New Library and Central Computing Facility (CCF). All the participants were impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities developed at New Library and CCF. Participants also visited their respective departments and witnessed the changes that have taken place in last 25 years.

The gathering then assembled in Tilak Hall for discussion followed by an energetic entertainment programme for about 2 hours.

All the participants expressed happiness at the organization of this one-day get-to function and left with their hearts full of emotions, carrying back a memento presented to them during the function.

A CD of the video recording, photographs and data-base of contact details of the participants is being prepared, a copy of which will be sent to all of them very soon.
